Parks Department
West Haverstraw Village is home to several outstanding parks facilities. The Samsondale Park is accessed via a footpath in the rear of the Samsondale Plaza shopping center and features a playground, basketball courts, and a teeball field. Calico Hill is located on the south side of Railroad Avenue. It contains several monuments honoring our veterans. And Peck's Pond Park is located at our municipal center on Samsondale Avenue. The pond is ringed by an illuminated walking path. A roller rink is located at one end of the park. The other end features a playground, pavilion, softball and baseball fields, and a basketball court.
As part of the Keep Rockland Beautiful Program, Brownie Troop 40683 and Tiger Den Pack 6 Pack 165 recently spent several evenings cleaning up Peck's Pond. They were helped by their brothers, sisters, and parents. Thank you! (Photos)
