2020 Summer Day Camp Family Survey
We hope this message finds you and your families well during these very difficult times.
As Mayor of the Village of West Haverstraw, I am very aware of just how important our Day Camp is for our campers as well as their families. I realize that many of you rely on day camp as a safe, affordable, fun place to send your children for the Summer months while you are working.
And, as the Camp Director, I’m extremely mindful of the importance and benefits of exercise, human contact and socialization for our children.
However, we unfortunately have been forced to postpone our 2020 registration, as we have yet to receive any guidance from the New York State Health Department. We wish we could give you a better idea of what camp might look like but, as of today, we cannot.
Please understand, the Village of West Haverstraw Day Camp staff and Mayor have been working carefully together to create a camp program that will be fun, but most importantly keeps everyone safe. Once we receive guidance from the NYS Health Department as to whether we will be allowed to run a camp, and, if so, under what conditions, we will be able to make an informed decision.
While doing our research, we realized we were missing an important piece of information: How many families will be willing to send their children to camp this summer? Please click Family Survey to answer some brief questions which will help us formulate a plan on how best to provide this service to you and your family. Kindly submit your answers by Friday, May 29th.
We understand your frustration with delayed registration and the importance of providing you this service, but please recognize that we are working diligently to try to offer a secure, modified Summer Day Camp program this season.
Thank you and stay safe and healthy!Robert R. D’Amelio Julie Davis
