Mayor and the Board of Trustees
Robert R. D’Amelio has been elected as Mayor of the Village of West Haverstraw since 2015. Before becoming Mayor, Robert was a Trustee for over sixteen years. As Trustee, he was the Commissioner of the West Haverstraw Fire Department and the liaison for the West Haverstraw parks. Mr. D’Amelio has been an intricate part of securing funding for improvements done at Peck’s Pond Recreational Facilities, Community Development Block Grant and improvements in the Village’s aging infrastructure. Robert is a successful local business owner and a 1996 graduate of the Leadership of Rockland program. Mr. D’Amelio is the Past President of the Haverstraw Little League, serving for 5 years, and has been the past chairman of the West Haverstraw Zoning Board of Appeals, the Rockland County Board of Consumer Protection, and the Citizens’ Advisory Committee for Bowline Power Plant III. Mr. D’Amelio and his wife Annette are married over 30 years and are very proud of their 4 children: Anthony, Nicholas, Olivia, and Randell.
Trustee Frances Nardi
In 1994 Frances Nardi retired as a senior medical records clerk at Letchworth Developmental Center in Thiells, New York. She has served as a Village Trustee since 1994. In 2001, Mrs. Nardi founded the West Haverstraw Seniors Club and is currently its First Vice President. She was a North Rockland School Board Trustee, President of the Italian American Social Club’s Ladies Auxiliary, and co-founded the North Rockland Soccer Association.
Trustee Robert LaGrow
Robert Lagrow was appointed to a vacant seat on the Board in 2003 and subsequently won election to the post. He retired from the North Rockland School District in 2002 as senior head custodian. Mr. Lagrow has previously served the Village as a Planning Board member and as Village Zoning Board chairman. He is a member of the Haverstraw Elks Club, Leo Laders American Legion Post 130, Garnerville Methodist Church, and a veteran of the United States Marine Corps.
Trustee Ramon Lopez
Ramon Lopez was appointed Village Trustee on April 21, 2010, replacing Mark Loblanco. He is proud to be the first Hispanic to serve in the capacity of Trustee for West Haverstraw. He was born in Tamboril, Dominican Republic, and came to the United States at the age of 13 and has lived in Garnerville for the past 23 years. He is married to Carmen Lopez, a North Rockland Central School District teacher and ESL Coordinator. They have two daughters, Melissa and Christina. Trustee Lopez graduated from St. John’s University in 1983 with a B.S. in Business Administration. He is the owner of the Lopez-Cintron Agency Ltd., located in the Village of Haverstraw, specializing in property and casualty insurance. He is a member of the Greater Haverstraw Chamber of Commerce. He is past president of the Rockland Life Underwriters Association. He has been involved with the Lions Club, Quisqueya Sports Club, Waterfront Action Committee in Haverstraw, the Task Force Relief for disaster victims, and is a member of the United States Tennis Association.
Trustee Ralph W. Kirschkel
Ralph W. Kirschkel is a lifelong resident of the Village of West Haverstraw. He is currently an Assistant Operator for the Joint Regional Sewerage Board. He has served on the West Haverstraw Planning Board, most recently as Chairman, and on the Village’s Citizens’ Advisory Board. Trustee Kirschkel is a committed volunteer having served on the Haverstraw Little League Board and as its league coordinator. He is a lifetime member of the S.W. Johnson Fire Company. He graduated from North Rockland High School and Rockland Community College with a degree in Business Administration. Mr. Kirschkel resides in Garnerville with his wife of 20 years, Lori, and their son Trent. His parents, Grace and Walter, continue to reside in his childhood home in West Haverstraw.
